This 14 kilometre hiking trail explores some of the most important places in Friedrich Fröbel’s life- from Bad Blankenburg to Keilhau. Friedrich Fröbel walked this route almost daily, and it was at today’s-named Fröbel’s Vantage Point (Fröbelblick) that he settled upon the title “kindergarten” for his early childhood education theories.
Enjoy the beautiful view from Fröbel’s Vantage Point, with its panorama over the Rinnetal and the Thuringia mountains. The trail between Bad Blankenburg and Fröbel’s Vantage Point features display signs, which outline the work and life of this great educator. In Keilhau, the Free Fröbel School (Freie Fröbelschule) is at present the only school worldwide that operates under the pedagogic principles of Friedrich Fröbel.
