Enjoy a majestic view over the entire Rinnetal and the Thuringian mountains from “Fröbel’s Vantage Point”. En route to this stunning lookout, signs inform hikers about the work and life of the great educationalist, Friedrich Fröbel.
The vantage point is identified with a column made from geometric figures. The column, which is made up of a cube, a cylinder and a ball, was erected in the honour of the “father” of the German kindergarten.
It is reported that Fröbel settled on the name “kindergarten” for his early childhood education concept while gazing out at the view, as to him, the valley below resembled a garden.
