The traditional Watzdorf Microbrewery is one of the oldest craft breweries in Germany. Since 1411, the Watzdorfers have been brewing their noble beers at the foot of Greifenstein Castle, direct on the B88. Throughout the centuries, the family Watzdorf have used their own property and the mill that stood there to exercise their right to brew beer. In 1997, the historic ruins were reconstructed, and today, heritage-listed architecture unites with modern brewing technology onsite.

Visit and discover the fascinating history of the art of brewing. Old handcrafted techniques and modern procedures stand together in close contrast. Taste the Watzdorfer beer specialties in an original atmosphere, with a view into the brewing house.

Guided tours of the brewery for groups (minimum 10 people) are held from Tuesday – Thursday at 10am, 1pm and 3pm.

Booking is required for smaller groups under 10 people or individual visitors. Brewery tours for larger groups and clubs are also available outside visiting hours, by agreement.

The brewery celebrates “The Day of the Beer” each year with an Open Day.
