The plot for the Sitzendorf Mountain Church was gifted by village residents Paul Möller, Albert Höhlein and the heirs of the master baker Sorge. The altar and the baptismal font were renewed in the nineties by the Erfurt goldsmith Giese.
The Evangelical-Lutheran church for the Sitzendorf parish is included on the Thuringia heritage register due to its unique setting.
