In the year 1779, the largest village church in Thuringia was consecrated in Oberweißbach, with seating for some 2,000 people. The church is a special object of interest to visitors to the region, with full restoration work nearing completion. The organ is unique in South Thuringia and the church features a colossal pulpit, with room for up to 12 adults. In the summer months, the varied concerts featured at the church are widely enjoyed.
